On December 27, 2018, at 4:59 p.m., Mr. Wardlow welcomed his first child, Kauffman
Marshall Wardlow, into the world. Kauffman was born at Mosaic Hospital in St. Joseph, just two days after Christmas. It was unknown when the baby would arrive, so students were worried about the possibility of Mr. Wardlow having to leave, therefore missing out on our Twelve Days of Christmas activities. Students were worried about Mr. Wardlow being gone for the last few days of the first semester, or even the first few days of the second semester, but because of the time the baby actually ended up being born, he ended up not missing a single day of school.

To many people the name Kauffman is original and something you don’t hear very often. Wardlow explained how the name came about. He said, “Mine and my wife’s initials are KMW so she picked out ‘K’ names and I liked that one the best.” Because this is Wardlow's first child, he had some fears about parenthood and how it would affect his life. “You always fear that something is wrong. Maybe something is wrong with the baby or something is wrong with my wife, and I couldn’t raise a kid on my own. I just want to make sure the baby is healthy.” Everyday is a learning experience, and although it can be overwhelming, Wardlow is enjoying every moment of it. He said, “I really have no idea what I’m doing, and I’m pretty much flying by the seat of my pants. I just do whatever my wife tells me to do.”
