Homecoming set to arrive at DeKalb

Students and staff at DeKalb Middle/High School will celebrate Homecoming the week of September 18, with most activities occurring Friday, September 22.

This year's theme is "Let the Games Begin," focusing on classic board games. The theme will be displayed through the class spirit signs, as well as the dress-up days.

Through the week, classes will participate in a variety of activities including a penny drive (sponsored by the NHS), daily trivia questions, and an athletic competition of punting, passing, and kicking. The participation in dress-up days and the scores on the spirit signs will also contribute to each class's overall score towards winning Homecoming.

The week will begin on Monday with a football jersey auction following the middle school football game and the middle and high school softball games. Students and parents may bid on a football player's jersey to wear on the day of Homecoming.

The remaining Homecoming activities will occur on Friday, with powder puff games beginning at 1 p.m., and a pep assembly to follow. Coronation will take place at 6:30 p.m., and the football game against Northwest Nodaway will kick off at 7 p.m.

Following the football game there will be a dance for all high school students. The cost to enter the dance is $4. All royalty candidates are free.
