High School students at DeKalb Middle/High School are participating in the Safe Driver Program. Two students have won prizes so far.

To participate in the program students had to fill out a registration card and each month that they didn’t receive a traffic ticket they are eligible to win a prize.

“I won $10 a gas card,” senior Kailey Ashpaugh said.

If students are able to make it through the whole school year with no traffic tickets they will be eligible to win a car. DeKalb is not the only high school to participate in this program.

“There are seven area high schools that participate,” Scott Vanover, school resource officer, said.

This program helps students become better drivers by motivating them to win prizes every month and to possibly win a car.

“The prizes and the chance of winning a car helps me to be a better driver,” senior Matthew Sharp said.
