The DeKalb High School track team has five girls advancing to sectionals.

The track team competed at districts at West Platte on May 5, 2018. The team advanced both runners and throwers.

Head coach McKenzie Reagan thought the team did what was expected.

“We did really well,” Reagan said. “It all went as predicted. The weather was really hot though.”

Junior Kirstian Goddard is excited and prepared for sectionals.

“I’m ready for sectionals,” Goddard said. “I did really well at districts.”

Goddard is competing in three events. Her events are the 100-meter dash, shot put, and the 400-meter relay.

Also apart of the 400-meter relay are seniors Morgan Parsons and Baylee Smith and sophomore Elizabeth Generaux.

Freshman Ashtyn Griffin is also advancing to sectionals. Griffin's event is discus where she has been setting new personal records all year long.

“I hit 97-11 at districts and I am hoping to hit 100 or more at sectionals,” Griffin said.

Reagan was really pleased with the team this year.

“Ever since I started coaching track, this has been one of our best groups,” Reagan said.

Sectionals will be held in Lathrop on May 12, 2018, starting at 10 a.m.
