Osborn/Stewartsville tournament is canceled.

As we conclude the first semester with finals, I want to look back at some of the things the students have been busy with in science class. Recently, we've been studying chemical reactions. Students worked with baking soda and vinegar. First they had to control the reaction to get the optimal ratio of reactants. Then we had golf ball races. I think some students just tried to make the biggest explosion possible! Then, students got to demonstrate 2 different chemical reactions in the classroom. Pictures show students working with the decomposition of sodium bicarbonate.
In HS/MS stem classes, we worked on an engineering project. First we discusses the importance of different shapes and materials. Students built structures out of paper designed to hold a tower of textbooks. Then, they built popsicle stick bridges designed to hold a 20 lb dumbbell. Of the 12 designs, 7 survived the dumbbell. I'm really proud of these kids and what they've accomplished!
